Frank and gina are looking at an abstract painting in a museum. gina describes objects and people she thinks she sees in the painting. frank says, "it's a bunch of paint thrown on a canvas." gina responds, "no, there is so much here that you just don't see." during lunch they agree that their experience reminds them of what concept they learned in introductory psychology?

Hey Sangam!

Psychological Thinking:

a. Looking under the Surface
WHAT IS seen in behavior is way different than what is within going on.
Always look under the behavior of a beings and ask Why one behaved the way one did?

b. Thinking subjectively versus Objectively:
Psyhology is about understanding the subjective experience not judging from outside behavior.

c. Idea of Compensation-
What we lack we compensate in behavior eg Monk practicing abstinence in more vulnerable to Sexual behavior than common person and thus, adopted the lifestyle
