Liberty and Equality are closely related to each other. There is no value of liberty in the absence of equality. They are the same conditions viewed from different angles. They are the two sides of the same coin. Though there is a close relationship between liberty and equality, yet there are some political thinkers who do not find any relationship between liberty and equality. For example, Lord Acton and De Tocqueville who were the ardent advocates of liberty, found no relationship between the two conditions.

Freedom and equality are mutually contradictory. It can be explained as :

•Equality is about ensuring that each individual should get equal opportunities to showcase their talent.

•Freedom is the right of an individual to act, think or speak as one wants.

•Freedom without the rules can never work in our society.

•It is not possible to be free and equal to others.

•And everyone is not equal .Every individual will have different opinions, different talents which cannot be made equal.

•This is because any attempts to create equality will necessarily result in the action of controlling the people that have natural advantages over others.

•Equality should be there in giving equal opportunities to everyone to showcase themselves as a better individual.

•But sometimes personal freedoms need to be sacrificed in order to maintain equality, which is not accepted by every individual.

•That's why freedom and equality are mutually contradictory .
