wouldn’t have mattered in any way!

India didn’t get freedom because of Gandhi or any other freedom fighter. India got her freedom because the British weren’t able to hold the nations that they had under their rule anymore. . After the second world war, Britain became a weakened nation and just a shadow of their former glory. Governing a country like India, which had a population of over 300 million isn’t that easy. [To put it into perspective, US just has 320+ million population today.] So, India was the first country to get freedom this way. Soon, many Asian counteries followed. But all of them were smaller and way less populated than India. That’s why Britain was able to hold them under control for a little longer.

India getting her freedom is like this Tamil proverb. I’m not quoting that, but I’ll translate it. “A little black bird sat on a very ripe palm fruit and claimed that it made the fruit fall down”

This is the palm fruit , referred in the proverb. They are very heavy, especially when they are ripe.
