Answer:

Many freshwater fishes cannot survive in the marine environment because their bodies are not adapted to the marine environment. Freshwater fishes lose body water because of the higher concentration of salt in the surrounding water (hypertonic environment), which makes their survival difficult.

Answer:

If a marine fish is placed in a freshwater aquarium, fish would not be able to survive because fishes are adapted to sea water, fishes body are hypertonic but when water moves to an aquarium it becomes hypotonic. They are unable to regulate the metabolic process in the changed environment and they die.

Or

Freshwater fish can't live in saltwater because it is too salty for them. Tonicity. Fish need to osmoregulate or maintain the right amount of water in the bodies. Each cell of the body has a shell; it is semi-permeable, i.e., it passes water and salt selectively
