Many parts of India are now facing severe scarcity of fresh drinking water, which may be available from the rivers, lakes and wells, as well as from below the earth’s surface.
1. Lots of smaller water bodies have been filled up to use that land for the construction of buildings.
2. The level of underground water has gone further down now due to the overuse of this water over many decades.
3. The fresh water of the rivers and lakes are polluted from the disposal of the large volumes of sewage products released from the buildings.
More amount of fresh water in the country is not in the form which is usable or safe to drink or use it for house hold purposes.
EXPLANATION:
The country is facing severe scarcity of water for drinking and even the underground water seems to be unusable or contaminated. The level of water bodies have gone down really fast with the overuse of it through decades and the lakes and other water bodies are dangerous as factories usually dump their waste in it making it not safe for use.
