Yes friction has disadvantages. The most important one is that it results in the loss of some part of energy applied on an appliance or a machine. Eg: in the pulleys which we use in Wells to draw out water.Imagine if there was no friction in the pulley, we had to apply less force for the work to be done.

like

1. it cause wear and tear between objects
2. produces unnecessary heat
3. object can lose their shape due to friction
