Yes. Friction is the necessary evil because,

(a)    Without friction between the feet and the ground, it would not have been possible to walk.

(b)   The tyre of the motor cars and cycles are rough to increase the friction.

(c)    In absence of the friction, the brakes of the motor car cannot work..

Friction is ofcourse a necessary Evil as most of the cases it is observed that friction does really plays a crucial role though it opposes the relative motion.

Example: 1) the world's tallest Burj Khalifa has friction as one of its causes of being a self supporting structure as the rods used in its base and are placed close enough to produce frictional force supporting normal reaction...

2) working of a ball point pen: the ball roles on the surface having friction so that we can write acco to our own wish.its not possible on frictionless surface...

3) frictional force produces torque which is responsible the wheels of vehicles to rotate.....
