YES,IAGREE. WHEN A BLOCK IS PRESSED AGAINST A ROUGH VERTICAL WALL, THE THE FRICTIONAL FORCE DEPEND ON THE NORMAL FORCE WHICH IS EQUAL THE PRESSED FORCE NOT ON THE WEIGHT OF THE BLOCK.

◆STATIC FRICTION between two surfaces is PROPORTIONAL to the normal force .

◆ As equation shows,

N = Net normal force.

(force which is perpendicular to the horizontal surface)

which could be it's weight .

◆Here,

Coefficient of static friction - K ,

Depends on the material .

◆Friction , F = K×N

◆In kinetic friction, when object is moving, NORMAL FORCE would be less , which makes it less than static friction.

◆So is the case of rolling , sliding friction.Adding more mass also increases normal force.

◆Hence, FRICTION depends on normal force between surfaces of contact where friction exists .
