When two bodies come in contact with each other friction acts between them. During friction mechanical energy is converted into heat energy. Two sticks are rubbed together to generate fire , generally it takes a long time but the sticks get hot and eventually fire is generated

Friction produce more heat because If the friction is more than the machines has to work more to over come the work and working more gently produce more heat and fuel consumption .
