Given f(x) = 4x^4 + 2x^3 - 2x^2 + x - 1.

Given g(x) = x^2  + 2x - 3.

We need to divide f(x) by g(x).

                        4x^2 - 6x + 22
                    -----------------------------------------
x^2 + 2x - 3)4x^4 + 2x^3  -  2x^2  +  x - 1

                    4x^4  + 8x^3 -  12x^2

                    -----------------------------------------

                               -6x^3  + 10x^2 + x - 1

                               -6x^3  - 12x^2 + 18x

                     --------------------------------------------

                                            22x^2 - 17x - 1

                                           22x^2 + 44x - 66

                      -----------------------------------------------

                                                            -61x + 65

The remainder obtained = -61(x) + 65.

                                          = px + q.

Therefore the value of p = -61,  q= 65.

Hope this helps!
