Large AC motors (used in things like factory machines) workin a slightly different way: they pass alternating current through opposing pairs of magnets to create a rotating magnetic field, which "induces" (creates) a magnetic field in the motor's rotor, causing it to spin around.

yaashi21: THIS IS THE ANSWER FROM GOOGLE
prabhuH: my friend thank you for your help but you should have explained the Faredays law.
yaashi21: SORRY BUT SOME ARE MY OWN EDITS
yaashi21: OOOOOO
yaashi21: I GOT IT
prabhuH: If you got it my friend, why don't you explain it to me, please.

The electric motor works on this principle - a current carrying conductor when placed in magnetic field experiences a force.

the direction of this force is determined by Fleming's Left Hand Rule

Due to this force, the coil is rotated in a particular direction and the split rings used in the motor are responsible for the change in direction of coil...thus the electric energy is converted into mechanical energy

prabhuH: Thank you my friend for your explanation. I mean it.
