Answer:

C. 1) The sun is the ultimate source of energy. Every morning sun rises, bringing, light and heat to the earth, and every evening it sets... Plants convert light energy from the sun into chemical energy(food) by the process of photosynthesis. Animals eat plants and use that same chemical energy for all their activities.

2)Chlorophyll is necessary for photosynthesis because during photosynthesis a plant absorbs light energy using the pigment chlorophyll. This allows it to convert carbon dioxide and water into glucose is transported to the growing parts of the plants for use in respiration.

3) It provides support to the plant and to absorb nutrients from the host plant.

4) They help in cleaning the environment because they convert the dead decaying matters into liquids and then suck up the nutrients.

5) For plants to perform photosynthesis they require light energy from the sun, water and carbon dioxide. Water is absorbed from the soil into into the cells of roots.

D. 1) Every consumer whether it is an animal, fish or bird has a fix life span after the completion of which they die. Dead remains of these organisms is decomposed by decomposers. i.e. converted into simple inorganic substances.

2) Light is one of the requirements for photosynthesis. When a part of the leaf is covered from both upper and lower sides with a black paper strip. Light will not reach to covered part. Presence of starch in the leaf, which can be detected by performing iodine test, indicates occurrence of photosynthesis.

4) The insectivorous plants or pitcher plants are different from other plants they survive on insects.

5) (i) autotrophs generally come under plants. The word is derived from auto=self+trophs=nutrition.the plants make food on their own. Heterotrophs generally come under animals. The word is derived from hetero=complex+trophs=nutrition. They are dependent upon plants for their survival.

(ii) saprophytes keep the environment clean. They the dead decaying matters into liquids and then suck up the nutrients. Symbiotic relationship are a special type of interaction between species. They provide a balance that can only be achieved by working together.

(iii) The green plants which obtain their food partly from insects are called insectivorous plants. Example: pitcher plant. However, the plants which live on or inside another organisms and derives there food from it are called parasitic plants. Example: cuscuta.

6) The nutrients are replenished in the soil by crop rotation. Changing the crops for every season keeps the land fertile.
