Friendship and deception is the theme of 'Julius Caesar.' The most loyal friends of Julius Caeser were Brutus and Antony. However, Cassius took Brutus to his side by deception and misguidance. In spite of knowing that Caeser could loose, Antony was constantly on the side of Caeser, this shows the friendship. So, in this way we can see shades of friendship and deception all together.

Friendship and Deception  in Julius Caesar

It is true friendship and deception appear in the plot of the play. Friendship is epitomized by Antony. He emerges as true friend of Caesar. He proves it by taking revenge from the conspirators. He puts his own life in danger when he decides to take the revenge by offering to take Caesar’s body for funeral; he also faces the danger of being caught by the conspirators while giving speech at the market place. Finally he succeeds in instigating the Roman crowd against the conspirators.

Deception is epitomized by Cassius and all the other conspirators such as Casca, Cinna, Metalus Cimber, Trebonius, Ligarius, Brutus, etc., who in spite of being Caesar’s close friends conspire to assassinate him.

Thus, in the play we read about friendship and deception.
