1. assume a=b

multiply both sides by 'b'

= ab=b²

2. subtract both sides by 'a²'

= ab-a²=b²-a²

3. now factorise both sides

= a(b-a) = (b-a)(b+a)

4. then you must simplify both sides

= a=a+b

5. now add '1' to both sides

= a+1 = a+b+1

6. hence 'a=b'

a+1 = a+a+1

= a+1 = 2a+1

7. now assume that 'a=1'

= 1+1 = 2+1

8. which then will equal to

= 1+1=3
