Average speed=Total distance/time taken

Consider the total distance as 2x

the body travels half the distance x with velocity v1 and the other half x with v2

Time taken is given by t=2/v

for first half t1=x/v1 and for second half t2=x/v2

substituting we get average speed=2x/[(x/v1 )+(x/v2)

Simplifying we get average speed=(2v1*v2)/(v1+v2) which is the second option
