From a balloon ascending with a velocity of 9.8 ms !, a stone was dropped and it reached the ground in 11s.
How high was the balloon. When the stone was dropped and with what velocity did it hit the ground. (g= 9.8 ms)

v = 98 m/s .

Explanation:

since balloon was ascending with 9.8 m/s

assumption : taking downward as positive direction.

the speed of stone is also 9.8 m/s in upward direction  , so its value will become (-  9.8 m/s ) .           // important to note minus here

using equation of motion we get :

h =485.1 m

v = 98 m/s .
