Given that:

  • From a bus stand in delhi, we buy 2 tickets to Agra and 3 tickets to Mathura.
  • The total cost is rupess 440.

To Express:

  • This situtation in linear equation.

Let us assume:

The cost of one ticket to Agra be x.

  • Cost of 2 tickets to Agra = 2x

The cost of one ticket to Mathura be y.

  • Cost of 3 tickets to Mathura = 3y

Linear equation:

Cost of 2 tickets to Agra + Cost of 3 tickets to Mathura = Rupees 440

↠ 2x + 3y = 440

Hence,

  • This situtation in linear equation; 2x + 3y = 440

Suppose the tickets for Agra be 2a

Suppose the tickets for Mathura be 3m

Then,we get the eq.

2a + 3m = 440

Therefore, the required linear equation for this situation is 2a + 3m = 440.
