Concept:

The remaining of any quantity in mathematics is founded by subtraction of total used from the initial total amount.

Given:

Given that, From a cord of 16m length ,two pieces of length 10/3 and 12/5 m are cut off.

Find:

The length of remaining the cord.

Solution:

Total length of a cord is 16 m.

The cut off lengths are 10/3 m and 12/5 m respectively.

The total length which is cut off

= 10/3 + 12/5

= (10*5+12*3)/15, since LCM of 3,5 = 15

= (50+36)/15

= 86/15

= 5.73 m (approximately)

Hence the length of the remaining cord after cutting off 10/3 m and 12/5 m from 16 m cord is given by 5.73 m approximately.
