reaches the same point .Taking east-west direction as x-axis

North-south direction as y-axis and starting point as origin

write the co-ordinates of the points at which two persons meet

A third person Karim moves straight way towards the point

where the two persons meet togethe. Has the third person

travelled less distance ? Find out the distance travelled by

If east west distance taken as x axis and North south direction as y axis

then if coordinates taken as (x,y) then

Coordinates of Rajesh= x=4,y=3

ie. The coordinates of Rajesh =(4,3)

In case of Harish x=3,y=4

ie.Coordinates of Harish=(3,4)

Total distance travelled by both is same =3m+4m=7m

In case of Karin he travelled diagonally

So

diagonal = (a^2+b^2)1/2

diagonal=(3^2+4^2)1/2

diagonal=(9+16)^1/2=25^1/2=5m

Since 7m>5m

Therefore Karim walked the least distance
