Answer:

Bullet

Mass = 50gm

= 50/1000kg

Velocity = 35 m/s

Rifle

Mass = 4kg

Let it's recoil velocity be X

Since,

Momentum of bullet = momentum of gun

= 50/1000*35 = 4x

= 4x = 5*35/100

= x = 35/20*1/4

So, x = 7/16 m/s

Answer:

-0.43m/s

Explanation:

mass of gun=4kg

mass of bullet=50g or 0.05kg

initial velocity of gun= 0m/s

initial velocity of bullet= 0m/s

final velocity of gun= v¹

final velocity of bullet= 35m/s

using law of conservation of momentum,

m¹u¹+m²u²=m¹v¹+m²v²

4×0+0.05×0=4×v¹+0.05×35

0=4v¹+1.75

-1.75=4v¹

-1.75/4=v¹

v¹= -0.43m/s
