Let, AD be the height of the point of elevation above the ground. Let AB be the distance of the point from the electric pole.

Given, AD = BE = 5m

AB = DE = 15m

In ∆ABC, B is right angled

tan45° = BC/AB

=> 1 = BC/15

=> BC = 15m

So, the height of the pole = CE

we can write CE as,

CE = BC + BE

CE = 15m + 5m

CE = 20m

∴ The height of the pole = 20m
