From a point p on a level ground, angle of elevation of the top of a tower is 30 degree. if the tower is 100m high, how far is P from the foot of the tower?​

SOLUTION

Let AB be the tower.

Then,

∠APB= 30° & AB= 100m

 \frac{AB}{AP}  = tan 30 \degree =  \frac{1}{ \sqrt{3} }  \\  \\  =  > AP = AB \times  \sqrt{3}  \\  \\  =  > AP = 100 \times  \sqrt{3}  \\  \\  =  > AP = 100 \times 1.73  \\ \\  =  > AP = 173m
