Answer:

Given,

radius of the circle that is cut out = to 14 cm

length of the rectangle = 40cm

breadth of the rectangle = 20cm

value of π = 22/7

To Find :-

Area of the remaining sheet.

Let's understand :-

To find the area of the remaining sheet we need to subtract area of the circle that had been cut out from the rectangle from the Area of the rectangle.

Required formula :-

Area of the Rectangle = length × breadth

Area of the Circle = π× (radius)²

Solution :-

Let,

Length of the Rectangle be 'l'

Breadth of the Rectangle be 'b'

Radius of the Circle be 'r'

i.e

l = 40cm

b = 20cm

r = 14cm

Area of remaining sheet = Area of the Rectangle - Area of the Circle.

= (l×b) - πr²

= (40cm×20cm) - (\sf\frac{22}{7}×(14cm)²)

= 800cm² - (\sf\frac{22}{7}×196cm²)

= 800cm² - (22×28cm²)

= 800cm² - 616cm²

= 184cm²

\sf\therefore Area of the Reaming Sheet = 184cm²
