Total length of a ribbon = 20 m

Sneha cut out off 3 pieces of  meter each

Janani cut out of 4 pieces of  m each.

To find:

The length of the ribbon that was left for Payal

Solution:

We have

Sneha cuts out off 3 pieces of  meter each

∴ The total length of 3 pieces of ribbons that is cut out by Sneha from the original ribbon is,

Janani cuts out off 4 pieces of  meter each

∴ The total length of 4 pieces of ribbons that is cut out by Janani from the original ribbon is,

Now, after Sneha & Janani cuts out their respective pieces of ribbons from the original ribbon,

The length of ribbon left for Payal was,

= 20 - [7 + 9]

= 20 - 16

= 4 m

Thus, 4 m ribbon was left for Payal from a ribbon of 20 m long.
