Hey mate!

Here's your answer!!
________________

Let the initial velocity of recoil of rifle be rifle
= v1

Initial mass of rifle = 4 kg
Initial momentum of rifle = 4 kg × v1

Initial mass of the bullet = 50g = 50/1000kg = 0.05 kg

Acc. to question, the initial velocity of bullet v3 = 35 m/s

∴ The initial momentum of bullet = 0.05kg × 35m/s

Now, according to the law of conservation of momentum,

Momentum of rifle = momentum of bullet

m1v1 + m2v2 = 0

m1v1 = -m2v2

∴ 4kg × v1 = -0.05 kg × 35m/s

Now, v1 = - 0.05 × 35/4 m/s = 【- 0.4375 m/s】

Explanation:

Let the initial velocity of recoil of rifle be rifle

= v1

Initial mass of rifle = 4 kg

Initial momentum of rifle = 4 kg × v1

Initial mass of the bullet = 50g = 50/1000kg = 0.05 kg

Acc. to question, the initial velocity of bullet v3 = 35 m/s

∴ The initial momentum of bullet = 0.05kg × 35m/s

Now, according to the law of conservation of momentum,

Momentum of rifle = momentum of bullet

m1v1 + m2v2 = 0

m1v1 = -m2v2

∴ 4kg × v1 = -0.05 kg × 35m/s

Now, v1 = - 0.05 × 35/4 m/s = 【- 0.4375 m/s】
