total length of the rod is 60 meters

smaller rod lengths are18m56cm and 14m8cm so

total length of small rods is 22m 64 cm

CONVERT METERS INTO CENTIMETERS

1 METER = 100 CM

60 METERS =6000 cm

22m64cm=2264 CM

REMAINING LENGTH OF THE ROD IS 6000CM --- 2264CM = 3736 cms

OR 37 METER 36 CM

Answer:

 \boxed{\sf Length  \: of  \: remaining  \: rod =27 .36 \:m \ \ or \ \ 27 \ m \ 36 \ cm }

Given:

Total length of rod = 60m

Length of two small rods cut out = 18m 56cm and 14m 8cm

To find:

Length of remaining rod

Step-by-step explanation:

First we need to convert cm to m.

As we know:

 \sf  1 \: cm =  \frac{1}{100} \:  m

Therefore,

 \sf  \implies 56 \: cm = 56 \times  \frac{1}{100} \:  m \\  \sf  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:   =  \frac{56}{100}  \: m \\ \sf \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  =  0.56 \: m  \\  \\  \sf  \implies 8 \: cm = 8 \times  \frac{1}{100} \:  m \\  \sf  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:   =  \frac{8}{100}  \: m \\ \sf \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  =  0.08 \: m

So,

We can write the length of two small cut out rods as: 18.56m and 14.08m

Now, To find the length of remaining rod:

 \sf \implies Length  \: of  \: remaining  \: rod =  \\   \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: \sf Total  \: length \:  of  rod - Sum \: of  \\  \sf \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  length \:  of \:  small \:  rods \:  cut \:  out \\  \\  \sf \implies Length  \: of  \: remaining  \: rod =60 - (18.56 + 14.08) \\  \\  \sf \implies Length  \: of  \: remaining  \: rod =60 - 32.64 \\  \\  \sf \implies Length  \: of  \: remaining  \: rod =27 .36 \:m \ \ \ or \ \ \ 27 \ m \ 36 \ cm

Additional information:

Converting m to cm

 \sf  1 \ m = 100 \ cm \\ \\ \sf \implies 0.36 \ m = 0.36 \times 100 \ cm = 36 \ cm
