Answer:

length of rope = 12m

two pieces of length = 13/5 and 33/10 m

remaining rope = length of rope - (addition of two pieces)

=12 -(13/5+33/10)

=12-5.9 m

remaining rope = 7. 1 m

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:-

From a rope 12 m long, two pieces of length 13/5 m and 33/10 m are cut off.

To find:-

What is the length of the remaining rope?

Solution:-

Given that

Total length of the rope = 12 m

If it is cut into two pieces then

Length of the one piece = 13/5 m

Length of the other piece = 33/10 m

Total length of the two pieces

= (13/5)+(33/10)

LCM of 5 and 10 = 10

=> [(13×2)+(33×1)]/10

=> (26+33)/10

=> 59/10 m

Total length of the two pieces = 59/10 m

Remaining piece = Total length of the rope - Total length of the cutting pieces

= 12 -(59/10)

= [(12×10)-59]/10

= (120-59)/10

= 61/10

= 6.1 m

Alternative Method:-

Given that

Total length of the rope = 12 m

If it is cut into two pieces then

Length of the one piece = 13/5 m

Length of the other piece = 33/10 m

Length of the remaining piece

= 12 -[(13/5)+(33/10)]

= 12-[(26+33)/10]

= 12-(59/10)

= 12-5.9

= 6.1 m

Answer:-

The length of the remaining piece of the rope is 6.1 m
