We have length of the rope is 40m and length of one piece is 10/3 m. If all pieces are equal in length, then all pieces are of 10/3 metres.

According to the question

$\tt\dashrightarrow{\dfrac{10}{3} \times x = 40}$

$\tt\dashrightarrow{x = 40 \times \dfrac{3}{10}}$

$\tt\dashrightarrow{x = \cancel{40} \times \dfrac{3}{\cancel{10}} }$

$\tt\dashrightarrow{x = 4 \times 3}$

$\bf\dashrightarrow{x = 12}$

• The number of pieces are 12.
