Correct Question:

From a solid cylinder of height 24cm and diameter 14cm, a conical cavity of the same height and same diameter is hollowed out. Find the total surface area of the remaining solid.

Given:

  • Height of cylinder = 24 cm
  • Diameter = 14 cm

To Find:

  • Total surface area of cylinder

Solution:

Given That:

  • Height of cylinder = height of cone = 24 cm
  • Radius of cylinder = radius of cone = 14/2 = 7 cm

Slant Height of Cone:

→ √h² + r²

→ √24² + 7²

→ √576 + 49

→ 25 cm

Total Surface area of cylinder:

→ Curved surface area + lateral surface area + area of base

→ 2πrh + πrl + πr²

→ πr ( 2h + l + r)

→ 22/7 × 7(2 × 24 + 25 + 7)

→ 22 × 80

→ 1760 cm²

Hence,

  • Total surface area = 1760 cm²
