Answer:

18 cm^2

Step-by-step explanation:

Solid cylinder radius = 1.4/2 = 0.7 cm.

It's height = 2.4 cm

A conical cavity of the  same height and same diameter is hollowed out.

Radius of cone = 0.7 cm

Height of cone = 2.4 cm

T.S.A of remaining solid,

=> 2πrh + πr² + πrl

=> πr(2h + r + l)

slant height l = √h² + r²

=> 22/7 * 0.7 * (2 * 2.4 + 0.7 + √0.7² + 2.4²)

=> 22/7 * 0.7 * (4.8 + 0.7 + 2.5)

=> 22 * 0.1 * 8

=> 17.6 cm^2

=> ~18 cm^2

Hence, Total surface area of remaining solid = 18 cm²
