From a solid cylinder whose height is 2.4cm and diameter 1.4cm, a conical cavity of the same height and diameter is hollowed out. find the total surface area of the remaining solid to the nearest cm square.
I already have the answer. can you pls tell why the curved surface area is added instead of subtracting? he asked the remaining solid right? so please clarify.

Look...
if we wanna take out the SA of the whole cylinder then we can do-
pi r2 h (CSA)+ pi r2 (upper ring) + pi r2( lower ring)
so when the cone is removed the upper ring is removed but the lower ring is still there hence we add a pi r2.
