2 metre and 15 cm is the remaining length

Given:

Length of a cloth = 5 m

That is: 500 cm

Length cut off = 2 m 85 cm

That is: 200 cm + 85 cm = 285 cm

So now we have:

\implies Length of the cloth = 500 cm

\implies Length (cut off) = 285 cm

Now:

Length of the remaining piece:

\implies 500 cm - 285 cm

\implies 215 cm

Thus:

The length of the remaining piece is 215 cm or 2 m 15 cm.
