The Main Answer is:  (c) y = 3

Given: The equation 5x + 3y = 16

           x = 2

To Find: Value of y from the graph

Solution:

To plot the graph we will find out 2 points satisfying the equation to plot on the cartesian plane.

For x = 0

5(0) + 2y = 16

2y = 16 ⇒ y = 8      ∴ 1st point is (0, 8)

For y = 0

5x + 2(0) = 16

5x = 16 ⇒ x = 16/5   ∴ 2nd point is (16/5, 0)

Now, from the graph, we draw a line joining the graph and the point where x = 2.

From the point of this intersection, we draw a line to meet the y-axis.

Wherever this line meets the y-axis is the required value of y.

From the graph, at x = 2, y = 3

Therefore, the required value is y = 3.
