total salary=100%
money spent = (15%+20%+50%) i.e. 85%...
so remaining 15% is money left with him i.e. Rs1245...
15%=1245
1%=1245/15
=Rs83...
he spends 85% of his salary so money spent=Rs(85 x 83)=Rs 7055...
savings = Rs1245
total money john gets= Rs 8300

Answer:

Monthly salary of John is 8300 rupees

Step-by-step explanation:

Let salary of John be x rupees.

It is given,John spends 15% on rent.

So,for rent he spends 15% of x

 =  \frac{15}{100}  \times x \\  =  \frac{3x}{20}  \: rupees

and John spends 20% on transport.

So,for transport he spends 20% of x

 =  \frac{20}{100}  \times x \\  =  \frac{1}{5}  \times x \\  =  \frac{x}{5}  \: rupees

and John spends 50% on groceries.

For groceries,he spends 50% of x

 =  \frac{50}{100}  \times x \\  =  \frac{x}{2}  \: rupees

So,total expenditure of John

 = ( \frac{3x}{20}  +  \frac{x}{5}  +  \frac{x}{2} ) \\  =  \frac{3x + 4x + 10x}{20}  \\  =  \frac{17x}{20}  \: rupees

He saves (total money - total expenditure)

 = (x -  \frac{17x}{20} ) \\  =  \frac{20x - 17x}{20}  \\  =  \frac{3x}{20}

It is given that he saves rupees 1245 every month.

According to question,

 \frac{3x}{20}  =  1245  \\ 3x = 1245 \times 20 \\ x =  \frac{1245 \times 20}{3}  \\ x = 415 \times 20 \\ x = 8300

So, Monthly salary of John is 8300 rupees.
