(A)Prevent further casualties of US troops.
Block imports from entering japan.
Save conventional bombs for use elsewhere.
(B)PRESSURE STALIN INTO DECLARING WAR ON JAPAN.
THREATEN THE SOVIET UNION WITH US MILITARY POWER.
PREVENT THE JAPANESE EMPEROR FROM CONTINUING TO REIGN.
