How many students are there in section A of class VIII, if both sections have the same number of students?

1/2 x + 1/4 x +1/8 x + 1/10 x + 2 = x

Taking LCM.... 20x+10x+5x+4x+80 / 40 =x

39x+80 = 40x

x = 80

Students in A = x/2 = 40

so, x/2+ x/4+x/8 + x/10+2= X

= 20x+ 10x + 5x + 4x+ 80/40=X

=39x +80=40x

=40x-39x =80

=x=80

so, Students in class A will be half of x

= x/2=80/2

=40 students in class A
