Solution :-

Speed of Lewis = 8mile/h

→ Speed of Clark = 6Mile /h .

Logic :- As Lewis is traveling in east and Clark is traveling south, So, we can say that both are making 90° angle at starting point and now one is going towards base and other is towards perpendicular.

Therefore, we can conclude that, Distance b/w them will be Length of Hypotenuse .

Let after H hours they will be 60 miles apart.

So ,

in H hours Lewis cover = 8 * H = 8H miles .

→ in H hours Clark cover = 6 * H = 6H miles.

and,

Distance b/w them = 60 miles.

Therefore,

(Base)² + (Perpendicular)² = (Hypotenuse)²

→ (8H)² + (6H)² = (60)²

→ 64H² + 36H² = 3600

→ 100H² = 3600

→ H² = 36

→ H = 6 Hours .(Ans.)

Hence, after 6 Hours they will be 60 Miles apart.
