these are the steps to find equivalent resistance. next u can try to do by urself, if not then I will tell u

Explanation:

  1. the resistor R2 and R4 are in series and R3 in parallel with series

Rs=R2 + R4

=15 + 15

=30ohm

1/Rp= 1/Rs+ 1/R3

=1/30 +1/20

=12ohm

thus effective resistance

Re=12+20+8=40ohm

thus equivalent resistance of circuit =40ohm

2.V=IR

total resistance = 40ohm

total potential difference = 12V

I=V/R

I=12/40

=0.3A

3.the current across R3=20ohm resistor is

L=V/R

=3.6/20

=0.18A

the current across R2 and R4=15ohm resistor is

L=0.3-0.18=0.12

current through R1=20ohm andR5=8ohm is 0.3A

4. the voltage drop across R1=20ohm

V=0.3*20=6V

voltage across R5=8ohm resistor is

V, 0.3*8=2.4V

voltage drop across combination of R2, R3, R4

V=0.3*12=3.6V

thus, I voltage across R3 is 3.0V

voltage across R2, R4 individually will be V=0.12*15=1.8V
