Answer:

(i) Electric motor. The principle is electromagnetism.

(ii)Fleming's Left Hand Rule

(iii)AB will move up and CD will move down so the overall movement is clockwise direction when viewed from front i.e. viewed from axle.

follow me only if I am correct otherwise don't follow me.

The answers to the questions are as follows:

(i) The given device is an electric motor. Its working principle is that when a current-carrying coil is placed in a uniform magnetic field, it experiences a force that rotates the coil continuously.

(ii) Fleming's Left-Hand rule is applicable in its functioning. This rule helps us to find the direction of the magnetic force.

If we stretch the fingers of our left hand such that the thumb, the index, and the middle finger are all mutually perpendicular to each other and the index and the middle finger point in the direction of the magnetic field and the current flowing respectively, the thumb will show the direction of the force.

iii) In the given arrangement, the magnetic field is in the +x-direction (From North to South pole), the current is flowing in the direction ABCDA. So the force on the arm AB is downwards and the arm CD is upwards.

∴ The coil rotates in an anti-clockwise direction.
