Area of the shaded region will be,

area \: of \: square \:  - area \: of \: cirle \\  =  {7}^{2}  - \pi {3.5}^{2}  \\  =  {7}^{2}  -  \frac{22}{7}  \times  {3.5}^{2}  \\  =  {7}^{2}  -  \frac{22}{2}  \times 3.5 \\  =  {7}^{2}   -  11 \times 3.5 \\  = 49  - 38.5 \\  = 10.5cm ^{2}

EXPLANATION.

PQRS is a square of sides = 7 CM

Let the radius of circle = d/2 = 7/2 = 3.5

 \sf :  \implies \: area \: of \: shaded \: region \\  \\ \sf :  \implies \: area \: of \: square \:  =  {s}^{2}  \\  \\ \sf :  \implies \: area \: of \: circle \:  =  \pi \:  {r}^{2}

\sf :  \implies \: area \: of \: shaded \: region \:  = area \: of \: square \:  -  \: area \: of \: circle \\  \\ \sf :  \implies \:  {7}^{2}  - \pi \:  \times  {(3.5)}^{2} \\  \\  \sf :  \implies \: 49 \:  -  \:  \frac{22}{7}  \times  \frac{35}{10}  \times  \frac{35}{10} \\  \\  \sf :  \implies \: 49 \:  -  \:   \frac{77}{2} \\  \\  \sf :  \implies \:  \frac{49(2) - 77}{2}  \\  \\ \sf :  \implies \:  \frac{98 - 77}{2}  =  \frac{21}{2}  = 10.5

\sf :  \implies \: \orange{ { \underline{area \: of \: shaded \: region \:  = 10.5 \: cm^2}}}
