In Triangle DAB,

A Is a right angle,

Therefore, by pythagorus theorem,

AB^2 + DA^2 = DB^2

12^2 + 9^2 = DB^2

144 + 81 = DB^2

DB^2 = 225

DB = 15cm

Area of triangle DAB = 1/2*12*9

=6*9

= 54cm^2

Now, in area of triangle BDC

= 1/2 * 15 * 3

= 7.5 * 3

= 22.5cm^2

Area of quadrilateral ABCD = Area of traingle DAB + Area of triangle BDC

= 54 + 22.5

= 76.5cm^2
