Answer:

The number of class interval is option (d) 8.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : 73, 72, 65, 41, 54, 80, 50, 46,49, 53.

To find : number of class intervals with class length 5.

Solution :

Class interval : In a frequency distribution table, the class width or class size or class length is called the class interval. It is the difference between the upper limit and the lower limit.

Class interval = upper limit - lower limit.

The given data can be grouped using  the class intervals using specific class size or class length.

Eg : 50 - 55, here, the class interval is of length 5, 50 is the lower limit and 55 is the upper limit.

That is, class interval = upper limit - lower limit = 55-50=5.

Using the given data- class length 5,  we can form the class interval  with frequency as follows.

    Class interval             Frequency

       41 - 46                                1

       46 - 51                                3

       51 - 56                                2

       56 - 61                                0

       61 - 66                                 1

       66 - 71                                 0

       71 - 76                                  2

      76 - 81                                  1

           Total                               10

The class interval  are 41-46,  46-51,  51-56 , 56-61, 61-66, 66-71 , 71-76, 76-81.

Therefore, the number of class interval is  option (d) 8.
