Given :  frequency distribution

Cost of living index 1400–1550 1550–1700 1700–1850 1850–2000

Number of weeks             8              15                  21               8

To Find : Median Class

Solution:

Cost of living index   Number of weeks  f        CF

1400–1550                          8                               8

1550–1700                          15                             23

1700–1850                          21                             44

1850–2000                          8                              52

52/ = 26

 23 < 26 <  44

Hence Median Class is 1700–1850

Median = 1700  + 150 x ( 26 - 23)/21

= 1700 + 21.43

= 1721.43
