verify n (AUB)+n(A ∩ B)=n(A)+n(B)
Solution:
A = { a , c , d , f , h }
⇒ n(A) = 5
B = { a , b , d , e , g ,h }
⇒ n(B) = 6
A ∪ B = { a , b , c , d , e , f , g , h }
⇒ n(A ∪ B ) = 8
A ∩ B = { a , d , h }
⇒ n(A ∩ B )= 3
n(A ∪ B ) + n(A ∩ B ) = 8 + 3 = 11
n(A) + n(B) = 5 + 6 = 11
⇒ n(A ∪ B ) + n(A ∩ B ) = n(A) + n(B) = 11
