The value of x = 120° and y = 60°

Given:

From the given diagram below, if ∠BOP = 120°,

To find:

The values of angles x and y?

Solution:

From figure,

The line AB and Line PQ are intersected at O and forms vertically opposite angles ∠BOP ∠QOY

As we know vertically opposite angles are equal

⇒ ∠BOP = ∠QOY

⇒ 120° = x            [ from given figure ]

Therefore, the value of x = 120°

AB is a transversal line which cuts PQ and RS at distant point

Then ∠y and ∠x  are be the two Consecutive interior angles formed by transversal AB

As we know  two Consecutive interior angles is a supplementary

i.e ∠y +∠x = 180°

We know that ∠x = 120°

⇒ ∠y +120° = 180°

⇒ ∠y = 180°- 120°

⇒  ∠y = 60°

Therefore, the value of y = 60°

The value of x = 120° and y = 60°
