Given :  Two parallel lines cut by a transversal

To Find :  value of x and y

Solution:

x and 50°  forms  a linear pair

=> x + 50° = 180°

=> x = 130°

or x & 130° are Corresponding angles

=>  x = 130°

x  & y  are   Alternate interior angles

=> y = x

=> y = 130°

or y & 130° are vertically opposite angle

Hence y = 130°

Value of x & y = 130°

Properties of angles formed by transversal line  with two parallel lines :

• Corresponding angles are congruent.

• Alternate angles are congruent.  ( Interiors & Exterior  both )

• Interior angles are supplementary. ( adds up to 180°)
