They are two triangle (one is smaller and other is bigger), they both are similar triangle by AA criteria.

For similar triangle,
The ratio of length of triangle are equal.

$\frac{y}{6} = \frac{2.5}{5}$
$y = \frac{2.5}{5} \times 6 \\ y = 3.$
Similarly, x can be determined by the same.
$\frac{3.5}{3.5 +x } = \frac{2.5}{5}$
$3.5 + x = \frac{5}{2.5} \times 3.5 \\ 3.5 +x = 7 \\ x = 3.5$
