Hi,

Answer:

The price of pineapples is Rs. 7 each.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the price of each pineapple be “Rs. p” and the price of each jack-fruit be “Rs. j”.

Case 1:

6 pineapples and 2 jackfruit were bought fro Rs. 60.

Therefore, we can write the equation as

6p + 2j = 60

Or, p = [60 – 2j] / 6 …… (i)

Case 2:

No. of pineaaples bought by me was = 56 / p

No.of jackfruits bought by me was = 36 / j

No. of pineapples > 4 + no. of jackfruits

Therefore, we can write

56/p – 36/j = 4

Or, 14/p – 9/j = 1

Or, 14j – 9p = pj….. (ii)

Now,

Substituting (i) in (ii), we get

14j – 9 [{60 – 2j} / 6] = j * [60 – 2j] / 6

Or, 14j – [3*(30 - j)] = j[30 – j] / 3

Or, 42j – 270 + 9j = 30j – j^2

Or, j^2 + 21j – 270 = 0

Or, j^2 +30j – 9j - 270 = 0

Or, j(j+30) – 9(j+30) = 0

Or, (j+30)(j-9) = 0

Or, j = 9 or -30

Since j = -30 is not possible

j = Rs. 9

Again substituting the value for j in eq. (i),

p = [60 – 2*9] / 6 = 42/6 = Rs. 7

Hence, price of each pineapple is for Rs. 7 and of each jack-fruit is Rs. 9

Hope this helps!!!!
