let's take the no of girls to be Y and the no of boys be X. 6+X=Y .X+Y=20. substitute the value of Y in the equation. 6+X+X=20.6+2X=20
2X=20-6 .2X=14.X=14/2. X=7 .X+6=7+6=13=Y
