From the sun, the heat comes to us by the process of radiation.

The different processes of heat transfer are:

1) Radiation- In the process of radiation, no medium is required. It is much like throwing and catching heat. You can visualise it as: the sun throws its heat and the heat is caught by the earth.

2) Conduction- In conduction, the heat is transferred from molecule to molecule. That’s why the opposite side of a spoon heats up when it is kept in a hot bowl of soup.

3) Convection- It is the movement of molecules within fluids(liquid or gaseous). Convective heat transfer is caused by molecular motion in fluids. Ex- water is boiled by the process of convection.
